Leo is an internationally recognized leader in applying AI to healthcare, with over 20 years of experience spanning pioneering Bay Area startups (HeartFlow), multinational medical companies (Siemens), and his tenure as CEO of Paige.ai. At Paige, Leo spearheaded the company’s rise to industry leadership, overseeing the international launch of groundbreaking products and achieving the first-ever FDA approval for an AI product in pathology.
Now, as Founder and CEO of Jona, Leo is leveraging AI to decode and shape the gut microbiome, aiming to transform health outcomes significantly. He has authored two books on AI, published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and holds more than 300 patents.
Among his many accolades, Leo is a recipient of the Edison Patent Award and a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive and Neural Systems from Boston University.
