About this class

Parasites are organisms that live on or inside another organism (the host) and benefit at the host's expense. Many individuals believe that parasitic infections are a rare occurrence in the United States. However, the CDC estimates that millions of Americans are currently affected by parasites.  In fact, one-fourth of all infectious diseases are caused by parasitic infections. Lack of clinician awareness and inaccurate testing contribute to the underdiagnosis of parasitic infections.

It is important to understand how parasites are contracted, common signs and symptoms, and how to properly test for these infections.  Once diagnosed, management including support during detoxification is crucial.

Join us on April 25th as Julie Ann Davey, ANP-C, ACNP-C, CFMP teaches us about the implications of parasitic infections and a root-cause approach to diagnosing and treating parasites.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Provide a comprehensive understanding of the biology of parasitic organisms, including modes of transmission and host interactions.
  2. Understand laboratory and diagnostic techniques used to identify parasitic infections.
  3. Explore strategies for managing parasitic infections including detoxification support.
