Like many other countries, in the US autoimmune disorders affect up to 10% of the population. It has been shown that genes are responsible for only one-third of autoimmune disorders, and environmental factors are involved in the other two-thirds.
In this regard, Dr. Vojdani will share with the class his experiences about his participation in the 14th International Congress on Autoimmunity that occurred from May 17-20 in beautiful Ljubljana, Slovenia.
In this congress, the newest diagnostic tools and techniques as well as the most up-to-date research on the role of environmental triggers and novel therapies for autoimmune diseases were discussed by world-renowned scientists.
These are some of the highlights that will be presented to the class participants:
- The importance of predictive and pathogenic antibodies in various autoimmune disorders
- Increased intestinal permeability as an avenue for the development of autoimmune diseases
- Mechanism of autoimmunity, and autoimmunity in the central nervous system due to breakdown in blood-brain barriers
- Connection between adjuvants (silicone, aluminum, polyethylene glycol, mercury, tattoo, nanoparticles and other vaccine components) and hyperstimulation of the immune system that results in ASIA syndrome
- The chemical and social landscape of the modern world and increased risk of autoimmunity
- Nutrition and autoimmunity induction due to mimicry or cross-reactivity
- Novelties in COVID-19, post-COVID syndrome, and autoimmunity with major emphasis on Dr. Vojdani’s presentations
- The role of pathogens, particularly SARS-CoV-2, EBV and HHV-6 in long COVID and autoimmunity, with major emphasis on Dr. Vojdani’s presentation
- Prediction, monitoring and prevention of autoimmunities
- Novel autoimmune diseases, diagnosis and therapeutic challenges
